Donkey Kong Reanimated Collab
The Donkey Kong Re-Animated Collab project started in 2018. This project involves hundreds of animators volunteering to come together and re-animate scenes from a single episode of the 1990s TV show "Donkey Kong Country." Since I have been a member of the project since 2018, I was fortunate enough to re-animate two scenes.

My first scene was a panning shot, so I made a vertical illustration with separate background, midground, and foreground layers that panned at different speeds to give the appearance of depth.

My second scene was animated almost two years after the first scene, so I decided to try an art style that was more in-line with popular animations of the time. Since the camera didn't move during this shot, the background was all done as a single layer except for the ripple effects in the water and the birds, as those would be moving in the final scene

For Donkey Kong himself, I aligned his movements with the rhythm of his speech on a transparent background, then I combined the video with the animated background in Adobe After Effects.
